PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION

The optional autolamp system provides light sensitive automatic on/off control of the exterior lamps normally controlled by the headlamp switch. The autolamp system keeps the lamps on for a pre-selected period of time after the ignition switch is turned off. The pre-selected time lapse is adjustable up to approximately three minutes.

Early production vehicles use the generic electronic module (GEM), central security module, headlamp switch, photocell sensor and headlamp relay to automatically control the exterior lamps.

Late production vehicles use the vehicle security module, headlamp switch, photocell sensor and headlamp relay to automatically control the exterior lamps.
