Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module

Removal and Installation
All vehicles
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

Vehicles built before 3/2002





2. Disconnect the electrical connectors.





3. Remove the three bolts.
4. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position the vehicle on a hoist.





5. Remove the three nuts from the lower bracket and position the anti-lock control module and HCU aside.

Vehicles built after 3/2002





6. Remove the anti-lock brake control module screws and remove the anti-lock brake control module.

All vehicles

7. CAUTION: Once the new module is installed, the module configuration information may have to be entered.

NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms can occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
