Principles of Operation (How Does It Work?)
Driver Seat ModuleThe power driver seat and power exterior rear view mirrors are controlled by the Driver Seat Module (DSM), only when the vehicle is equipped with the programmable/recall memory option. The remote transmitter sends a signal to the Smart Entry Control (SEC)/Timer module to unlock the doors; the signal is then sent to the DSM and the door locks are unlocked. The DSM knows the position of the seat by the position sensors. The position sensors send a signal back to the DSM proportional to the position and reference voltage being supplied.
Memory Seats
NOTE: A memory recall can not be initiated if the vehicle is in PARK or NEUTRAL, with the ignition switch in the RUN position.
The memory seat feature allows the driver to program personalized seat positions that can be recalled using the memory switches or remote transmitter. There are three memory positions possible. The driver must move the seat to the desired position using the power seat switch. The driver must then depress the memory SET switch, which activates the memory SET switch Light Emitting Diode (LED). Within five seconds (before the LED goes out), the driver must select a memory switch position. If no memory switch input is received within the five-second time limit, the operation is aborted and the memory SET switch LED will turn off. If the power driver seat switch, power seat switch, or memory SET switch is depressed during the five-second programming limit, the operation is aborted and the memory SET switch LED is turned off.
