System Operation
MAX A/CWhen MAX A/C is selected:
^ The air inlet duct door is positioned by the actuator to close off outside air and admit only recirculated air.
^ The panel/defrost doors are configured to direct airflow to the instrument panel A/C registers.
^ The temperature is set by the actuator positioning the temperature blend door per the electrical voltage output from the control.
^ Air will be picked up at the recirculated opening by the blower motor. With the A/C control set for maximum cold, airflow across the A/C evaporator core will be diverted past the heater core and then directed into the passenger compartment through the instrument panel A/C registers. There is also some airflow to the floor outlets.
^ The A/C compressor will be enabled when MAX A/C is selected.
^ The blower motor is on.
VENT
When VENT is selected:
^ The air inlet duct door is positioned by the actuator to close off recirculated air and admit only outside air.
^ The panel/defrost/floor doors are configured to direct airflow to the instrument panel A/C registers.
^ The discharge air temperature is set by the actuator positioning the temperature blend door per the electrical voltage output from the control.
^ Air will be picked up at the cowl air opening by the blower motor. With the A/C control set for maximum cold, air flows across the A/C evaporator core, will be diverted past the heater core and then directed into the passenger compartment through the instrument panel A/C registers. There is also some airflow to the floor outlets.
^ The A/C compressor can be enabled in VENT by depressing the A/C button on the control.
^ The blower motor is on.
OFF
When OFF is selected:
^ The A/C inlet duct door is positioned by the actuator to close off outside air and admit only recirculated air.
^ The floor/panel door and the panel/defrost door are configured to direct airflow to the outlet floor ducts.
^ The blower motor and A/C compressor are off.
PANEL/FLOOR
When PANEL/FLOOR is selected:
^ The air inlet duct door is positioned by the actuator to block the recirculated air and admit only outside air.
^ The floor/panel doors are configured to direct airflow to the floor duct, and the instrument panel A/C registers.
^ The discharge air temperature is set by the actuator positioning the temperature blend door per the electrical voltage output from the control.
^ Air will be picked up at the cowl air opening by the blower motor. With the A/C control set at a mid cool position, air flows across the A/C evaporator core. A portion of the air is diverted past the heater core while a portion of the air flows across the heater core. The combined air flow is then directed into the passenger compartment through the instrument panel A/C register and the floor outlets.
^ The A/C compressor can be enabled in PANEL/FLOOR by depressing the A/C button on the control.
^ The blower motor is on.
FLOOR
When FLOOR is selected:
^ The air inlet duct door is positioned by the actuator to close off recirculated air and admit only outside air.
^ The panel/defrost/floor doors are configured to direct airflow to the floor outlets.
^ The discharge air temperature is set by the actuator positioning the temperature blend door per the electrical voltage output from the control.
^ Air will be picked up at the cowl air opening by the blower motor. With the A/C control set at a full warm, air flows across the A/C evaporator core, will be diverted through the heater core and then directed into the passenger compartment through the floor outlets. There is some air flow to the defrost and side window demist outlets.
^ The A/C compressor can be enabled in FLOOR by depressing the A/C button on the control.
^ The blower motor is on.
FLOOR/DEFROST
When FLOOR/DEFROST is selected:
^ The air inlet duct door is positioned by the actuator to close off recirculated air and admit only outside air.
^ The panel/defrost/floor doors are configured to direct airflow to the defrost and floor outlets.
^ The discharge air temperature is set by the actuator positioning the temperature blend door per the electrical voltage output from the control.
^ Air will be picked up at the cowl air opening by the blower motor. With the A/C control set at a mid cool position, air flows across the A/C evaporator core. A portion of the air flow is then diverted past the heater core while a portion of the air flows across the heater core. The combined air flow is then directed into the passenger compartment through the defrost and the floor outlets. There is some air flow to the side window demist outlets.
^ The A/C compressor can be enabled in FLOOR/DEFROST by depressing the A/C button on the control.
^ The blower is on.
DEFROST
When DEFROST is selected:
^ The air inlet duct door is positioned by the actuator to close off recirculated air and admit only outside air.
^ The panel/defrost/floor doors are configured to direct airflow to the defrost and side window demist outlets.
^ The discharge air temperature is set by the actuator positioning the temperature blend door per the electrical voltage output from the control.
^ Air will be picked up at the cowl air opening by the blower motor. With the A/C control set at a full warm, air flows across the A/C evaporator core, will be diverted through the heater core and then directed into the passenger compartment through the defrost and side window demist outlets. There is also some airflow to the floor outlets.
^ The A/C compressor will be enabled when DEFROST is selected.
^ The blower motor is on.
