Normal Operation
The starting system sequence of operation is as follows:
- The ignition switch is turned to the start position.
- The starter relay is activated.
- Voltage is then provided to the starter solenoid.
- The starter solenoid engages the drive pinion to the ring gear.
- The starter solenoid switches the battery current to the starter motor.
- The system remains engaged until the ignition switch is released.

Possible Causes
- Battery
- Starter motor
- Solenoid
- Fuse 24
- An open in the battery ground cable
- A short to ground in the positive battery cable
- An open circuit at the S-terminal
- An open circuit at the B-terminal
- An open circuit in the starter relay input signal circuit 33 (WH/PK)
- An open circuit in the battery supply to starter relay input signal circuit 1050 (LG/VT)
- An open circuit in the battery relay to the S-connector circuit 113 (YE/LB)
- An open circuit in the ignition switch to fuse circuit 50 (RD)
- An open circuit in the starter relay to the TR sensor circuit 461 (OG)
- A short to ground in circuit 113 (YE/LB) or 461 (OG)
