PINPOINT TEST F: THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATION DOES NOT DIM

Test F1:

Normal Operation
When the headlamp switch is placed in the PARK position or the headlamp ON position, battery power is supplied to the instrument panel dimmer switch and the dimmer module through circuit 14 (BN). The instrument panel dimmer switch uses the parking lamps ON input and outputs a pulse width modulation (PWM) voltage to the dimmer module and the illumination controls through circuit 235 (RD/BK). The ground signal for the dimmer switch is supplied through circuit 1205 (BK).

Possible Causes
- circuit 235 (RD/BK) short to power
- instrument panel dimmer switch
