Timing Drive Components- Camshaft Drive Cassette, LH





Special Tool(s)

1. Remove the valve covers.
2. Remove the fuel supply manifold.
3. Remove the engine front cover.
4. Remove the thermostat housing.
5. Remove all of the roller followers.

6. NOTE: You must retime the LH and RH camshafts when either camshaft is disturbed.

Turn the crankshaft clockwise to position the number one cylinder at top dead center.








7. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the illustration and table.
8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

9. NOTE: You must retime the LH and RH camshafts when either camshaft is disturbed.

Retime the LH and RH camshafts.

Item 2: Camshaft Sprocket Bolt Removal Note





1. Remove the LH camshaft sprocket bolt.
^ Install the special tools to hold the camshaft sprocket.
^ Remove the camshaft sprocket bolt.

Item 3: Jackshaft Sprocket Bolt Removal Note





1. Use the special tool to keep the crankshaft from turning while loosening the jackshaft bolt.

Item 9: Timing Chain and Guide Installation Note





1. NOTE: The camshaft chain sprockets must be oriented correctly.

Install the lower chain sprocket and the camshaft sprocket.

Item 3: Jackshaft Sprocket Bolt Installation Note





1. Keep the crankshaft from turning and tighten the jackshaft sprocket bolt in two stages.
1. Stage 1: Tighten the bolt to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).
2. Stage 2: Tighten the bolt an additional 90 degrees.

1. Install, but do not tighten the camshaft sprocket bolt.
