Anti-Theft - Perimeter
ANTI-THEFT - PERIMETER ALARM SYSTEMThe anti-theft perimeter protection feature is controlled by the smart junction box (SJB). The alarm can be armed using the LOCK button on the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter; or by locking the vehicle with the key in the driver door lock cylinder, the keypad or using the power door lock switch with the accompanying door open by pressing 7/8 and 9/0 simultaneously. The SJB will then monitor all features, which will activate the alarm in the event of an unauthorized entry.
The perimeter alarm can only be disarmed using the RKE transmitter or the driver door lock cylinder switch, or by cycling to RUN a valid programmed key in the ignition switch or by entering the correct vehicle unlock code on the keypad.
If any of the above features receives any activation once the alarm has been armed, the alarm will activate the visual and audible alerts.
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION-PERIMETER ALARM
The SJB monitors the door ajar switches circuits 1312 (LG/BK), 1314 (YE/LG), 1432 (WH/VT) and 1433 (DB/LG), the hood ajar switch circuit 1304 (VT/OG) and the tailgate ajar switch circuit 1351 (TN). If any intrusion is detected without the alarm being shut off the SJB energizes circuit 1324 (BK/LG) sounding the anti-theft horn and circuits 1341 (DB/OG), 1342 (GY/BK), 1363 (WH/RD) and 1365 (GY/LB) causing the hazard lamps to flash. The system can be disarmed by opening the driver door with the key, grounding circuit 1313 (LB/BK) through the driver door disarm switch, using the correct entry code on the key pad, unlocking the doors with the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter or turning the key to the ON position. The system will arm when the driver door is locked with the key, the doors are locked with the RKE transmitter, 7/8 and 9/10 on the keypad are pushed simultaneously or the doors are locked with the power lock buttons and then the doors are closed. The SJB will query the position of all entry points; if any entry point is open the alarm will arm excluding inputs from the open entry point. The SJB will add the entry point to the protected status when the closure of the open entry point is detected.
