Normal Operation
The SJB monitors the multifunction switch positions by sending out voltage reference signals to the multifunction switch through circuits 1394 (WH/RD) and 1395 (RD/PK). The return signal is sent through circuit 2068 (BK/LB). When the multifunction switch is in the high beam position, the SJB provides a ground for the high beam relay coil (which is supplied battery voltage) through circuit 1708 (LG/BK). When the high beam relay is energized, power is routed to circuits 1335 (YE/WH) and 1337 (VT/YE) from the BEC. Circuits 1335 (YE/WH) and 1337 (VT/YE) supply power to the RH and LH high beams respectively. If a problem is detected with the circuits to the multifunction switch, the SJB will not provide a ground source for the high beam relay.

Possible Causes
- circuit 1394 (WH/RD) open, shorted to ground or shorted to power
- circuit 1395 (RD/PK) open, shorted to ground or shorted to power
- circuit 2068 (BK/LB) open, shorted to ground or shorted to power
- circuit 1708 (LG/BK) open or shorted to power
- high beam relay
- multifunction switch
- BEC
