DOOR WINDOW - CLICK/SNAP NOISE AT END OF
UPWARD GLASS TRAVEL
FORD:
2004 Freestar
MERCURY:
2004 Monterey
ISSUE
Some 2004 Freestar/Monterey vehicles may exhibit a front door glass click/snap noise at the end of the upward glass travel. The noise may be due to interference between the bottom edge of the glass and the two (2) "J" hooks welded to the regulator bar. The noise occurs when the glass reaches the up-most position, flexes back against the regulator bar and presses on the "J" hooks.
ACTION
To service, bend the two (2) "J" clips away from the glass bottom edge.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 501-01.
2. Move the window to the door mid position.
3. Reach in and bend down the two (2) "J" Clips/Hooks, located at the bottom of the regulator bar, 1-2 mm (.040 - .080 inches) away from the glass edge.
4. Verify repair.
5. Reassemble in reverse order.
