Normal Operation
When the headlamp switch is placed in the ON position, battery power is supplied to the instrument panel dimmer switch through circuit 14 (BN). The instrument panel dimmer switch then sends a variable voltage to the backlighting control system through circuit 235 (RD/BK). The ground signal is supplied to the climate control panel and the backlighting control system through circuit 1205 (BK).

Possible Causes
- circuit 235 (RD/BK) open
- circuit 1205 (BK) open
- message center switch
- four-wheel drive switch
- parking aid disable switch
- adjustable pedal switch
- audio unit
