PINPOINT TEST F: THE HEADLAMPS ARE ON CONTINUOUSLY

Test F1-F6:

Test F7-F11:

Test F12-F14:

Normal Operation
Battery voltage is supplied to the headlamp switch through circuit 196 (DB/OG). When the headlamp switch is placed in the headlamps ON position, voltage is transferred to circuit 13 (RD/BK) which supplies power to the low beam headlamps and the multifunction switch which energizes the high beam relay to turn on the high beam headlamps. The vehicle security module also supplies power to circuit 13 (RD/BK) when the autolamp system has requested the exterior lamps on.

For high beam headlamps, the multifunction switch receives power from circuit 13 (RD/BK) when the headlamp switch is in the headlamps ON position. When the multifunction switch is placed in the high beam position, voltage is routed to the high beam relay through circuit 697 (BN). When the high beam relay receives battery voltage from circuit 697 (BN), the high beam relay is energized. Battery voltage received from circuit 212 (DB) is then routed to circuit 632 (GY/OG), which then proceeds to circuit 12 (LG/BK) via BJB fuse 46 (20A). Voltage is then carried to the high beam headlamps through circuit 12 (LG/BK). The daytime running lamp (DRL) system also provides power to the high beams (at a reduced voltage) through circuit 12 (LG/BK) through the DRL relay.

For low beam headlamps, the headlamp switch sends power through circuit 13 (RD/BK) to BJB fuses 42 (10A) (RH headlamp) and 43 (10A) (LH headlamp). After passing through the fuses, voltage is then carried through circuits 161 (DG/OG) (RH headlamp) and 160 (DB/WH) (LH headlamp) to the low beam headlamps.

Possible Causes
- circuit 12 (LG/BK) short to power
- circuit 13 (RD/BK) short to power
- circuit 160 (DB/WH) short to power
- circuit 161 (DG/OG) short to power
- circuit 632 (GY/OG) short to power
- circuit 697 (BN) short to power
- high beam relay
- headlamp switch
- DRL system
- vehicle security module
- multifunction switch
