CORROSION
FORD:
2004 Explorer
MERCURY:
2004 Mountaineer
ISSUE
Some 2004 Explorer/Mountaineer vehicles may exhibit an inoperative door speaker (usually left/front) due to corrosion of the connector terminals. The concern can be aggravated after the door has been accessed for service.
ACTION
Remove the affected door speaker following Workshop Manual, Section 415-00 and disconnect the speaker connector. Inspect the speaker and connector terminals. If no visual corrosion is seen, do not continue with the TSB, follow normal diagnostics. If corrosion is verified, replace the connector and terminals with a sealed connector using the service kit which includes repair instructions.
