Interior Mirror

INTERIOR MIRROR


Installer, Rear View Mirror:






SPECIAL TOOL(S)

REMOVAL

NOTE: Auto-dimming mirror is shown, non-dimming mirror is similar.







1. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the illustration and table.

Item 3: Interior Rear View Mirror Removal Note







1. On Explorer, position the mirror in the full down position. Grasp the mirror and rotate in a downward and toward the windshield direction until released from the mirror windshield bracket.







2. On Mountaineers equipped with auto-dimming mirror, position the auto-dimming interior mirror outboard (towards the driver door) to its full extension.







3. On Mountaineers equipped with auto-dimming mirror, rotate the auto-dimming interior mirror back until it is parallel with the windshield. The auto-dimming interior mirror mount is now locked between the two adjustment balls and joints.







4. NOTE: It takes approximately ten pounds of force to remove the auto-dimming interior mirror from the windshield bracket.

On Mountaineers equipped with auto-dimming mirror, hold the auto-dimming interior mirror firmly in one hand and strike the auto-dimming interior mirror with the palm of an open hand.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.


Item 3: Interior Rear View Mirror Installation Note







1. On Explorer, place the interior mirror on the windshield bracket. Using the special tool, press the mirror in place until fully seated







2. On Mountaineers equipped with auto-dimming mirror, seat the auto-dimming interior mirror base partially on the mounting button.







3. On Mountaineers equipped with auto-dimming mirror, rotate the auto-dimming interior mirror fully up.







4. On Mountaineers equipped with auto-dimming mirror, slide the auto-dimming interior mirror base down on the mounting button until an audible click is heard.
