INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

Escape, Mariner
The instrument cluster contains gauges, indicator lamps, warning lamps, and a message center that are designed to provide the driver with a system status and to alert the driver that certain conditions exist in the vehicle. Gauges provide information to the driver indicating the status of systems. Examples of systems that use gauges include vehicle speed, fuel level, engine coolant temperature, and engine rpm. Indicator lamps provide information to the driver of conditions that exist in the vehicle. Examples of the indicator lamps include the turn signal, 4x4, speed control, and overdrive off. Warning indicator lamps provide information to the driver of conditions that could potentially alter vehicle performance. Examples of the warning indicators include the ABS, BRAKE, safety belt, and low oil pressure.

Escape Hybrid
The instrument cluster contains gauges, indicator lamps, warning lamps, and a message center that are designed to provide the driver with a system status and to alert the driver that certain conditions exist in the vehicle. Gauges provide information to the driver indicating the status of systems. Examples of systems that use gauges include vehicle speed, engine rpm, fuel level, and battery charge/assist. Warning indicator lamps provide information to the driver of conditions that could potentially alter vehicle performance. Examples of the warning indicators include the service soon and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) hazard.

Instrument Cluster Module Configuration

NOTE: The instrument cluster and the smart junction box (SJB) must be configured upon replacement.

The instrument cluster is a configurable, hybrid electronic cluster (HEC) that contains a microprocessor, gauges, indicator lamps, and internal circuitry. For the Escape and Mariner instrument cluster, the following items must be configured when installing a new instrument cluster:
- seat belt telltale
- seat belt timeout
- base door ajar tone
- check fuel cap
- transmission type
- speedometer (US or Metric)
- engine type
- transaxle/transmission not in park chime
- key reminder chime
- default language
- anti-lock brake system (ABS)
- 4x4
- oil change reminder
- turn signal on reminders
- park brake on chime
- message center button press chime

For the Escape Hybrid instrument cluster, the following items must be configured when installing a new instrument cluster:
- seat belt telltale
- seat belt timeout
- seat belt chime
- belt minder
- anti-theft telltale
- check fuel cap
- speedometer bias
- key reminder chime
- default language
- ABS/TCS/IVD
- 4x4
- oil change reminder
- not in park chime
- turn signal on reminders
- park brake on chime
- button press chime
- reverse warning chime
- key off dimming timer
- IFE/AFE/TFE/Navigation
