Normal Operation
The rear only parking aid system is enabled when the vehicle ignition switch is in the RUN position and the transmission is in REVERSE. For a front and rear system, the front and rear sensors are always active when the transmission is in REVERSE with the vehicle ignition switch in the RUN position. When the transmission is in DRIVE the front sensors are active if the vehicle speed is greater than 0 km/h and less than 8 km/h (5 mph). If the vehicle is in drive and has a speed of 0 km/h, the front sensors are only active for 5 seconds before being deactivated. The system can be disabled by the reverse parking aid switch. A 750 Hz variable warning tone is generated from a parking aid speaker attached to the parking aid module. The parking aid speaker increases the warning tone rate as the vehicle gets closer to an obstacle.

Possible Causes
- circuit 1436 (VT/OG) open, shorted to ground, or shorted to voltage
- parking aid disable switch
- parking aid module
