Steering Column

Removal and Installation
1. Remove the steering column multifunction switch.
2. Turn the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position and turn the ignition switch to the OFF position locking the steering column.
3. Remove the 2 screws and the steering column reinforcement.
4. Remove the 4 screws and the wiring shield.
5. Disconnect the shift interlock harness electrical connector.
6. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
7. Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors at the clockspring.
8. Disconnect the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) electrical connector.
9. Disconnect the shift cable.
10. Disconnect the shift position indicator.

11. NOTE: Install a new steering column shaft-to-steering column bolt.

Remove and discard the steering column upper shaft-to-steering column bolt.
^ To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).

12. NOTE: Install new steering column support-to-instrument panel nuts.

Remove and discard the 4 steering column support-to-instrument panel nuts.
^ To install, tighten to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
13. Remove the steering column.
14. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
