Brakes - Brake Booster Ticking Noise on Moderate braking

LINCOLN:
2005 Aviator

MERCURY:
2005 Mountaineer

ISSUE
Some 2005 Explorer, Mountaineer, or Lincoln Aviators may exhibit a clicking noise coming from the power brake booster in the instrument cluster area during moderate braking. The clicking noise condition has no effect on braking performance.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Use the Workshop Manual to service any brake related diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) before proceeding with this TSB.

2. Replace the Anti-Lock Brake System Module (ABS Module) with the revised service part. The ABS Module has a revision made to the internal software that will eliminate the clicking noise coming from the power brake booster.

NOTE
DO NOT REPLACE THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER FOR THIS CONDITION.
