Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the accessory drive belt.
3. Using the special tool, remove the power steering pump pulley.
4. Remove the nuts and position the wiring harness bracket and ground cable aside.
5. Remove the power steering pump stud bolts.
6. Remove the nut and detach the power steering hose bracket.
7. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose fitting and remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- Drain the fluid into a suitable container.
8. Remove the bolt and position the power steering pump aside.
9. Remove the nut and position the radio interference capacitor and the power steering fluid reservoir and bracket aside.
10. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
11. Remove the bolt and the CMP sensor.
Installation
1. Position the CMP sensor and install the bolt.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
2. Connect the CMP sensor electrical connector.
3. Position the power steering fluid reservoir and the radio interference capacitor and install the nut.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
4. Position the power steering pump, the bolt and the stud bolts.
- Tighten to 20 Nm (14 lb-ft).
5. Using the special tool, install a new O-ring seal on the power steering pressure hose fitting.
6. Connect the power steering pressure hose fitting.
- Tighten to 65 Nm (48 lb-ft).
7. Attach the power steering hose bracket and install the nut.
- Tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
8. Position the ground wire and the wiring harness bracket and install the nuts.
- Tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
9. Using the special tool, install the power steering pump pulley.
10. Install the accessory drive belt.
11. Connect the battery ground cable.
12. Fill and bleed the power steering system.
