ISSUE
Some 2006 Escape, Escape Hybrid, Mariner, and Mariner Hybrid vehicles built from 11/2/2005 through 11/10/2005 may exhibit an interior odor that is objectionable to some customers. This may be the result of insufficiently cured insulator foam on the transmission shift cable.
ACTION
Confirm the odor level is not normal by comparing the vehicle in question to an Escape/Mariner with a build date outside of the 11/2/2005 through 11/10/2005 build date range.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Replace the transmission shift cable following Workshop Manual, Section 307-05A.
