Normal Operation
The smart junction box (SJB) sends a reference signal to the multifunction switch through circuits 1033 (RD/YE) (low beam request), 12 (LG/BK) (high beam request) and 196 (DB/OG) (flash-to-pass request). When the SJB detects a request for the low beams, the SJB sends voltage through circuits 161 (DG/OG) (RH headlamp) and 160 (DB/WH) (LH headlamp) to the low beam headlamps. When the headlamps are on and the SJB detects a request for the high beams, the SJB sends voltage through circuits 1779 (DB/LG) (RH headlamp) and 1724 (WH/LG) (LH headlamp) to the high beam headlamps.
When the SJB detects a request for the flash-to-pass, the SJB sends voltage through circuits 1779 (DB/LG) (RH headlamp) and 1724 (WH/LG) (LH headlamp) to the high beam headlamps.
Possible Causes
- Circuit 12 (LG/BK) short to ground
- Circuit 160 (DB/WH) short to voltage
- Circuit 161 (DG/OG) short to voltage
- Circuit 196 (DB/OG) short to ground
- Circuit 1033 (RD/YE) short to ground
- Circuit 1724 (WH/LG) short to voltage
- Circuit 1779 (DB/LG) short to voltage
- Multifunction switch
- SJB
