Liftgate

LIFTGATE







Removal
1. Remove the C- and D-pillar trim panels.
2. Lower the rear of headliner.
3. Disconnect the rear washer hose at the union and release the rear washer hose grommet.
- Position the hose outside the vehicle body.

4. Disconnect the liftgate electrical connectors and release the electrical harness grommet.
- Route the wire harness out from the roof.

5. If equipped with power liftgate, remove the power liftgate rod bolt.

6. CAUTION: Support the liftgate before removing the liftgate struts.

Remove the liftgate struts.

7. With a wax pencil, mark the position of each hinge to aid in the installation of the liftgate.

8. CAUTION: To avoid damaging the liftgate, this step requires an assistant.

Remove the 4 liftgate bolts and remove the liftgate. Installation

Installation
1. If installing a new liftgate, transfer components as necessary.

2. CAUTION: To minimize the possibility of cross threading, hand start all fasteners during installation.

With the aid of an assistant, install the liftgate and 4 bolts and align hinges to previously made alignment marks.
- Tighten the bolts to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

3. Install the liftgate struts.
4. If equipped with power liftgate, install the power liftgate rod bolt.
- Tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).

5. Install the electrical harness grommet and connect the liftgate electrical connectors.
6. Install the rear washer hose grommet and connect the rear washer hose at the union.
7. Raise the rear of headliner.
8. Install the C- and D-pillar trim panels.
9. Verify correct alignment of the liftgate.
