Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Remove the cowl panel grille.
4. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor electrical connector.
5. Remove the bolts and the cowl lower panel.
6. CAUTION: It is important to twist the spark plug wire boots, while pulling along the axis of the spark plug, to avoid possible damage to the spark plug wires.
With a twisting motion, use the special tool to pull the 6 spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
7. Use compressed air to remove any foreign material in the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.
8. CAUTION: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.
Remove the 6 spark plugs.
Installation
1. Adjust the spark plug gap as necessary.
2. CAUTION: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.
Install the 6 spark plugs.
- Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).
3. Apply dielectric grease to the inside of the spark plug wire boots before attaching to the spark plugs.
4. CAUTION:
- Spark plug wires must be connected to the correct spark plug.
- Make sure the spark plug boots are positioned so the spark plug wires do not contact the exhaust manifold.
Connect the 6 spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
5. Install the cowl lower panel and the bolts.
- Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
6. Connect the windshield wiper motor electrical connector.
7. Install the cowl panel grille.
8. Connect the battery ground cable.
