Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. NOTE: Place the center cap or wheel cover face up after removal to avoid damage.
If equipped, remove the center cap or wheel cover.
3. CAUTION: Do not use heat to loosen a seized wheel because heat can shorten the life of the wheel and damage the wheel bearings. If the wheel cannot be removed by hand, use a wheel puller to remove the seized wheel.
Remove the wheel nuts and the wheel and tire assembly.
Installation
1. WARNING: When a wheel is installed, always remove any corrosion, dirt or foreign material present on the mounting surfaces of the wheel and the surface of the wheel hub, brake drum or brake disc that contacts the wheel. Installing wheels without correct metal-to-metal contact at the wheel mounting surfaces can cause the wheel nuts to loosen and the wheel to come off while the vehicle is in motion, causing loss of control. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
Position the wheel and tire assembly on the vehicle.
2. CAUTION: Failure to tighten the wheel nuts in the pattern indicated can result in high brake disc runout, which will speed up the development of brake roughness, shudder and vibration.
Install the wheel nuts and tighten to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) using the pattern indicated.
3. If removed, install the center cap or wheel cover.
