Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
Digital Transmission Range (TR) SensorSpecial Tool(s):
Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Place the transaxle range selector in NEUTRAL.
3. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and the breather tubes.
4. Remove the engine air cleaner lid.
5. Remove the air filter assembly.
6. Disconnect the digital transmission range (TR) sensor electrical connector.
7. Remove the manual control lever and cable.
^ Remove the nut.
^ Remove the manual control lever and cable.
8. Remove the 2 bolts and the digital TR sensor.
Installation
1. Install the digital TR sensor and loosely install the bolts.
2. Using the special tool, align the digital TR sensor and tighten the bolts.
^ Tighten to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the manual control lever and cable.
1. Install the manual lever and nut.
^ Tighten to 13 Nm (10 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect the shift cable back onto the manual control lever.
5. Install the air filter assembly.
6. Install the engine air cleaner lid.
7. Reconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and the breather tubes.
8. Verify that the shift cable is correctly adjusted.
