Rear Suspension

WARNING: All vehicles are equipped with gas pressurized shock absorbers which will extend unassisted. Do not apply heat or flame to the shock absorbers during removal or component servicing. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.

CAUTION: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect performance of vital components and systems and their failure can result in major service expense. They must be replaced with the same part number, or an equivalent part, if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts. Never attempt to heat, quench or straighten any front suspension part. Install a new part.

The rear suspension consists of these components:
^ Axle assembly with integral trailing arms
^ Shock absorbers
^ Suspension track bar assembly
^ Wheel spindles
^ Coil springs
^ Trailing arm bushings
^ Hub and bearing assemblies

Thrust Angle:

Thrust Angle
^ Rear thrust angle can be defined as a line bisecting rear toe or simply, the direction in which the rear wheels are pointed.
^ Rear thrust angle = (LR toe minus RR toe)/2.
^ If the rear wheels are pointed to the right, thrust angle is positive; if the rear wheels are pointed to the left, thrust angle is negative.
