External Controls
External ControlsTransaxle Shift Control Linkage
The transaxle shift control linkage consists of:
^ a gearshift lever which connects to the transmission column shift selector tube on the steering column.
- A gearshift lever pin secures the gearshift lever to the selector tube.
^ a shift cable and bracket which connects to the shift arm assembly on the steering column and to the manual control lever on the transaxle.
- The shift cable bracket bolts to the transaxle.
Shift Interlock System
The shift interlock system consists of:
^ a brake shift interlock actuator.
- A transmission shift selector position insert which bolts to the steering actuator housing, secures the brake shift interlock actuator to the steering column.
^ electrical circuits to supply power to lock and unlock the brake shift interlock actuator.
The brake shift interlock actuator locks the gearshift lever in PARK:
^ when the ignition switch lock cylinder is in the LOCK position.
^ with the ignition switch lock cylinder in the RUN position and the brake pedal released.
The brake shift interlock actuator releases the gearshift lever:
^ when the ignition switch lock cylinder is in the FIRST position.
^ with the ignition switch lock cylinder in the RUN position and the brake pedal actuated.
