Engine

Removal (Steps 43-83)
43. Remove the bolt and position the A/C compressor manifold aside.





44. Reposition the clamp and disconnect the power steering cooler hose.





45. Remove the power steering cooler hose from the retaining clip.





46. Disconnect the transaxle cooler tubes.
^ Remove the clips.
^ Disconnect the oil cooler tubes.





47. Disconnect the steering column.
^ Remove the bolt.
^ Slide the joint upward.





48. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
^ Reposition the clamp.





49. Remove the oil pan-to-transaxle bolts.





50. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

Remove the RH and LH lower engine mount nuts.





51. Remove the inspection cover.
^ Remove the bolt.
^ Remove the cover.





52. Remove the 4 torque converter nuts.





53. Remove the RH and LH wiring harness retainers.





54. Remove the nuts and the RH and LH ABS electrical connectors.





55. CAUTION: When removing the disc brake caliper, never allow it to hang from the brake hose. Provide a suitable support.

Remove the 4 bolts, then position the RH and LH brake calipers aside.





56. Remove the nuts and disconnect the RH and LH front stabilizer links.





57. Remove the RH and LH strut bolts.





58. Position the special tool under the subframe assembly.





59. Remove the 4 bolts.





60. Lower the engine, transaxle and subframe assembly.
61. Remove the generator brace bolt.





62. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.





63. Remove the 4 bolts and the A/C compressor.





64. Release the engine wiring harness retainer.





65. Detach the electrical connector from the subframe.





66. Release the engine wiring harness retainers.





67. Remove the engine roll restrictor bracket.
^ Remove the bolts.
^ Remove the engine roll restrictor bracket.





68. Remove the engine wiring harness pin-type retainer.





69. Disconnect the transaxle electrical connectors.





70. Disconnect the turbine shaft speed (TSS) sensor connector.





71. Remove the pin-type harness retainer.





72. Disconnect the electrical connectors.





73. Detach the 2 electrical connectors from the wiring harness bracket.





74. Detach the electrical connector from the subframe.





75. Remove the bolt and the transaxle fluid level indicator and tube.





76. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

Install the special tools.





77. Install the engine lifting equipment.





78. Remove the 4 bellhousing bolts.





79. Remove the bolt and the LH engine mount.





80. Remove the bolt and the RH engine mount.





81. Remove the oil pan-to-transaxle bolt.





82. Remove the 2 engine mount bracket-to-transaxle bolts.





83. Using the engine lifting equipment, separate and lift the engine from the subframe and transaxle assembly.
