Instrument Cluster and Panel Illumination
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND PANEL ILLUMINATIONThe instrument panel dimmer switch allows the brightness level of the backlights and the displays to be adjusted dependent upon the headlamp switch position and the instrument panel dimmer switch position. The instrument panel dimmer switch sends a signal to the smart junction box (SJB) which then sends a pulse width modulated (PWM) dimming signal to the instrument cluster, the dimmable LEDs, and the dimmable incandescent bulbs.
The following displays are dimmable:
- Audio display, switches and clock (part of the audio unit)
- Message center (if equipped) (part of the instrument cluster)
- Odometer (part of the instrument cluster)
