Test Q: The Check Fuel Cap Indicator Is Never On

PINPOINT TEST Q: THE CHECK FUEL CAP INDICATOR IS NEVER ON

Q1-Q4:

Normal Operation
The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the fuel tank evaporative system for significant leaks that occur following the refueling of the vehicle.

DTC P0457 - sets if the PCM detects a fuel tank pressure change greater than a -23.7 kPa (-7 in-Hg) of vacuum within 30 seconds after refueling has occurred or if there is excessive purge (fuel vapor) flow greater than 454 g (1.0 lb) per minute. Once the DTC is set, the PCM sends a message to the instrument cluster over the communication network to illuminate the check fuel cap indicator.

Possible Causes
- PCM
- Instrument cluster
