Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect the performance of vital components and systems and their failure can result in major service expense. A new part with the same part number must be installed. Do not use a new part of lesser quality or of a substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Remove the front brake disc.
3. Remove and discard the axle shaft nut.
^ To install, tighten to 150 Nm (111 ft. lbs).
4. Using the special tools, remove the halfshaft assembly from the wheel hub.





5. Disconnect the anti-lock brake sensor wiring.





6. Remove the wheel bearing and hub assembly-to-knuckle bolts.
^ To install, tighten to 130 Nm (96 ft. lbs).

7. NOTE: Apply a small patch of Threadlock to the last 5 axle shaft joint threads before installing the nut.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
