Principles of Operation
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATIONThe smart junction box (SJB) is connected to the standard corporate protocol (SCP) communication network. The SJB controls both interior and exterior lighting, body functions, active anti-theft functions (perimeter alarm), remote keyless entry (RKE) functions, and the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). If the vehicle is not equipped with the dual automatic temperature control (DATC) module, the SJB receives input from the function selector switch to operate the manual climate control system. The SJB is a combination of a multifunction control module and an interior fuse panel. The SJB is connected with a coaxial antenna to receive wireless signals from both the RKE transmitters and the TPMS sensors. The SJB controls several vehicle systems, as follows:
- Auto-locks
- Exterior lamps
- Heated rear window
- Illuminated entry
- Interior lamps
- Perimeter anti-theft
- Power door locks
- Power windows
- Keyless entry keypad
- RKE system
- Smart locks
- TPMS
- Warning chimes
The SJB also provides inputs and outputs for indirectly controlling the:
- Auto-dimming interior mirror (if equipped)
- Power liftgate (if equipped)
- Power sliding doors (if equipped)
Some SJB parameters are programmable. There are 2 types of programmable parameters that are available: vehicle configuration and customer preference. Refer to Information Bus (Module Communications Network) for information concerning the programmable parameters in the SJB.
