Normal Operation
The restraints control module (RCM) checks internal circuits for faults. If the RCM detects any internal circuit or internal component fault, or if the RCM detects specific resistance faults related to deployable devices, it will store diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1342 in memory and flash lamp fault code (LFC) 12 (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag indicator.

Fault Conditions
The RCM monitors for the following fault conditions:
- Internal circuits
- Internal components

Possible Causes
An RCM that is faulted can be caused by:
- wiring, terminals or connectors.
- low resistance on a squib circuit.
- a faulted RCM.
