Normal Operation
The fuel pump module assembly receives a reference voltage signal from the instrument cluster through circuit VMC11 (YE/VT), and returns the fuel level signal to the instrument cluster through circuit RMC32 (GN/BU). As the fuel level changes, a float actuates a variable resistor that alters the fuel level signal voltage. The instrument cluster interprets this signal and commands the fuel gauge to sweep to the correct level.

DTC B1203 - is a continuous and on-demand DTC that sets if the instrument cluster detects an open or short to voltage on the input circuit VMC11 (YE/VT).

DTC B1204 - is a continuous and on-demand DTC that sets if the instrument cluster detects a short to ground on the input circuit VMC11 (YE/VT) or a short together between the input circuit VMC11 (YE/VT) and the return circuit RMC32 (BN/BU).

Possible Causes
- Circuit RMC32 (GN/BU) open or short to voltage
- Circuit VMC11 (YE/VT) open, short to ground or voltage
- Circuit VMC11 (YE/VT) short to circuit RMC32 (GN/BU)
- Fuel level sensor
- Fuel pump module assembly
- Fuel tank
- Instrument cluster
