Tests AD: The Overtemp Warning Indicator Is Never/Always On
PINPOINT TEST AD: THE OVERTEMP WARNING INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ONNormal Operation
The instrument cluster receives the engine and motor overtemp command from the PCM over the high speed controller area network (HS-CAN) communication bus. If the PCM detects an engine or motor overtemp condition, the PCM sends a command to the instrument cluster to turn the overtemp warning indicator on.
If the engine or motor overtemp message is missing, the instrument cluster sets DTC U0100 in continuous memory and the overtemp warning indicator remains in the last indication mode (on or off). If the engine overtemp message is deemed invalid by the instrument cluster, the instrument cluster defaults the overtemp warning indicator on.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- PCM
- Instrument cluster
