A/T - Fluid Leak From Cooler Liner

CD4E TRANSAXLE FLUID WEEP - TRANSMISSION
COOLER LINE

FORD:
2008 Escape

MERCURY:
2008 Mariner

ISSUE
Some 2008 Escape and Mariner vehicles equipped with a CD4E transaxle and built before 03/01/2007 may exhibit transmission fluid weeping from the cooler line next to the hose clamp (constant tension spring type clamp).

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE





1. Check that the cooler line rubber hose is fully installed on the steel cooler line at the transaxle by pushing the rubber hose to the stop bead but do not push it beyond the stop bead. (Figure 1)

2. Add one (1) additional new hose clamp (screw type) next to the original hose clamp and tighten to 28 lb-in (3.2 N.m). (Figure 1)

3. Check transaxle fluid level.
