Power Transfer Unit (PTU) - Automatic Transaxle (Part 2):





1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect the battery.
3. Drain the power transfer unit (PTU). For additional information, refer to Power Transfer Unit (PTU) Draining and Filling - Automatic Transaxle.

4. CAUTION: A new power transfer unit (PTU) intermediate shaft seal must be installed whenever the intermediate shaft or PTU is removed from the vehicle.

Remove the front RH intermediate shaft.
5. Remove the driveshaft.
6. Remove the 4 bolts and the crossmember brace.





7. Remove the exhaust as required. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System.
8. Remove the 3 PTU heat shield bolts and the PTU heat shield.
9. Remove the 6 PTU-to-engine bracket bolts and the bracket.
10. Disconnect the PTU vent tube and position it aside.
11. Remove the 4 PTU-to-transaxle bolts.
12. Remove the PTU.
