Seats: Description and Operation

SEATS

The front seats are a bucket style and are equipped with the following:
- Adjustable head restraints
- Heated cushions and backrests (if equipped)
- Manual lumbar (driver only) (if equipped)
- Manual seat tracks
- Six-way power seat track (driver only) (if equipped)
- Occupant classification sensor (OCS) (passenger seat only)
- Safety belt buckle pretensioners
- Side air bags

The rear seats are a 60/40 percent split-bench configuration and are equipped with the following:
- Adjustable outboard and center seat head restraints
- Forward folding backrests
- Forward folding cushion
- Seat integrated center safety belt retractor (60 percent backrest)

Power Seats
The driver 6-way power seat track uses a corporate style seat switch to move the seat horizontally and independently move the front and rear of the seat vertically.

The front seat track motors are available only as part of a new power seat track assembly.

Heated Seats
This system allows the electrical heating of the front seats on demand.

The components of the heated seat system include the following:
- Seat heating elements (heater mats) located in the seat cushion and backrest
- Driver and passenger heated seat switches, located on the instrument panel
- A bi-metallic thermostat that is part of each seat cushion heater mat
- A heated seat relay located underneath each seat cushion frame

Side Air Bags

WARNING: Front seat backrest trim covers installed on seats equipped with seat side air bags cannot be repaired. A new trim cover must be installed. Cleaning is permissible. Failure to follow these instructions may result in the seat side air bag module deploying incorrectly and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.

NOTE: If a side air bag deployment took place, a new seat back pad, trim cover and side air bag module and nuts must be installed. A new seat back frame should be installed if necessary.

The driver and passenger side air bags are attached to each front seat backrest frame and are standard equipment on all driver and passenger front seats.
