Brakes - Park Brake Pedal Won't Fully Release

PARKING BRAKE PEDAL WILL NOT FULLY RETURN

ISSUE
Some 2009 Escape, Mariner, Escape Hybrid and Mariner Hybrid vehicles, built on 10/1/2008 through and including 1/26/2009, may exhibit a parking brake indicator on the dash, due to the parking brake pedal not returning to the fully released position.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Verify parking brake indicator is illuminated in the dash.
2. Pull the pedal up to the fully released position by hand.
3. If the indicator does not go out, this procedure does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-00.
4. If the indicator does go out, replace the parking brake control assembly following WSM, Section 206-05.
