Pinpoint Test B: A Single Power Window is Inoperative - LH Front Window

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 100 (Escape/Mariner, Escape Hybrid/Mariner Hybrid), Power Windows for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The LH front window control switch provides power to the LH front window motor through circuit CPW10 (YE/VT) and ground through circuit CPW11 (BU/GY) to operate the LH front window down, and power through circuit CPW11 (BU/GY) and ground through circuit CPW10 (YE/VT) to operate the LH front window up.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- LH front window control switch
- LH front window motor


PINPOINT TEST B: A SINGLE POWER WINDOW IS INOPERATIVE - LH FRONT WINDOW

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

B1 CHECK THE POWER WINDOW DOWN OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Front Window Motor C524.
- Ignition ON.
- While operating the LH front window control switch, measure the voltage between LH front window motor C524-2, circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side and LH front window motor C524-1, circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side.





- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts while operating the LH front window control switch in the down direction?

Yes
INSTALL a new window regulator and motor. REFER to Window Regulator - Front Door Window Regulator - Front Door. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
GO to B2.

B2 CHECK CIRCUITS CPW11 (BU/GY) AND CPW10 (YE/VT) FOR AN OPEN

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C504A.
- Measure the resistance between LH front window control switch, harness side and LH front window motor, harness side using the following chart:









- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?

Yes
INSTALL a new LH front window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
