Front Door Window Glass: Adjustments




Door Window Glass Adjustment









Squeak/Screech Noise or Vertical Scratches in the Window Glass - Adjusting the Weatherstrip Flange

1. Fully lower the affected window.

2. Remove the exterior door glass weatherstrip. For additional information, refer to Glass, Frames and Mechanisms - Exploded View, Front Door Glass, Frames and Mechanisms - Exploded View, Front Door or Glass, Frames and Mechanisms - Exploded View, Rear Door Glass, Frames and Mechanisms - Exploded View, Rear Door.

3. Fully raise the window.

4. Measure the distance from the inside edge of the weatherstrip flange to the outside surface of the glass.
- The distance should be greater than 6 mm (0.24 in) and less than 10 mm (0.39 in).





5. If the distance between the inside edge of the weatherstrip flange to the outside surface of the glass is out of specification, use a suitable tool to evenly bend the flange into specification.

6. Fully lower the window.

7. Thoroughly clean the door glass weatherstrip with soapy water and reinstall.

Window Regulator Grind Noise When Operating Window - Adjusting the Window Regulator

All doors

1. Fully lower the affected window.

2. Lubricate both window runs with Rotunda DuPont(TM) Krytox(R) Oil.

3. Fully raise the window.

Front door

4. Remove the front door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Interior Trim and Ornamentation Service and Repair.

5. Remove the screw and the front door trim panel bracket.





6. NOTE: Driver side shown, passenger side similar.

Remove the 3 pushpins and pad assembly.





Rear door

7. Remove the rear door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Interior Trim and Ornamentation Service and Repair.

8. Remove the screw and the rear door trim panel bracket.





All doors

9. NOTE: Do not touch the adhesive surface during removal or installation of the watershield, as re-bonding will be impaired. If additional adhesive is required during installation, apply seam sealer as necessary to completely seal the watershield to the inner door.

Position the watershield aside.

10. Connect the window control switch electrical connector.

11. Using the window control switch, lower the window glass to gain access to the window glass fasteners.

12. Loosen the window regulator and window glass fasteners and retighten to finger tight.





13. Raise and lower the affected window 1 time.

14. Tighten the window regulator and window glass fasteners.
- Tighten the window regulator fasteners to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).

- Tighten the window glass screws to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

15. If the regulator continues to make noise, install a new window regulator for the affected window. For additional Information, refer to Window Regulator - Front Door Window Regulator - Front Door or Window Regulator - Rear Door Window Regulator - Rear Door.
