NOISE - "CREAK" OR "GROAN" - FRONT DISC BRAKE - CANADIAN VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 08/15/87 AND ALL U.S. VEHICLES
LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1987-88 TRACER
ISSUE: A "creaking" or "groaning" noise from the front disc brakes while the vehicle is stopped or slightly moving forward may be caused by the metallic front disc brake pads. This noise does not affect brake performance.
ACTION: To reduce the noise, install new design semi-metallic (low-steel) front disc brake pads. Refer to the Tracer Shop Manual, Section 12-20-2 for the removal and installation procedures.
NOTE: The new front disc pads do not affect brake feel. The disc pad should only be used to reduce brake "creak" or "groan".
