1982 Passenger Cars With 3.3L Engines And Automatic Transmissions
Calibrations: 2-12T-R (All) and 2-12B-R (All)
Warning:
This Modification Is Authorized Only For The Listed Engine Calibrations. Performing This Modification On Other Engine Calibrations Is Unauthorized And Could Create Liability Under Applicable Federal Or Local Laws.
Service modifications for driveability concerns have been developed for sea level calibrated engines which will be principally operated in high altitude areas (above 4,000 ft.).
1. Advance the ignition timing from 10 ° to 12 ° BTDC.
2. Remove and retain the PCV valve EV-118 (E1DE-6A666-AA) and replace it with valve EV-49 (D8TZ-6A666-B). The PCV valve EV-118 is to be returned to the customer.
3. Raise the vehicle.
4. Remove the transmission vacuum diaphragm attaching bolt and attaching clip and vacuum hose.
5. Remove and discard the production diaphragm D6AP-7A377-AA and replace it with an altitude compensating diaphragm D7DZ-7A377-A.
6. Install a new diaphragm attaching clip, D8BZ-7FOO6-A, original attaching bolt and torque to specification. Attach the vacuum hose (may require longer length tubing be used).
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Obtain a Vehicle Emission Control Information Update Label (available at all Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealers) and fill in the appropriate information and install as indicated.
NOTE:
The customer should retain the removed PCV valve. If the vehicle is returned to continuous sea level operation: retard timing from 12 ° to 10 ° BTDC; replace the EV49 PCV valve with the EV-118 PCV Valve (the altitude compensating diaphragm added to the automatic transmission need not be replaced) and; remove the Vehicle Emission Control Information Up- date Label.
