WARNING:
This Modification Is Authorized Only For The Listed Engine Calibration. Performing This Modification On Other Engine Calibrations Is Unauthorized And Could Create Liability Under Applicable Federal Or Local Laws.

Vehicles equipped with 4.2L engines and AOD that exhibit sustained detonation, at speeds above 55 mph for police vehicles and any operating speed for trailer-tow applications, should be serviced as follows:


1. Verify correct calibration by checking engine code label for calibration 1-18U-RO.
2. Following service manual procedure, remove distributor assembly. Remove cap, adapter and rotor.
3. Install new distributor assembly (12127). Re-install rotor, adapter and cap.
4. Set initial timing to 7° BTDC using procedure on Vehicle Emission Control Information decal.
5. Torque distributor hold down bolt to 24-35 N-m (18-26 ft.lbs.).





6. Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number, alterations performed, and the change authority (TSB number and article) as shown. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
