AIR LEAK - DOOR INSIDE HANDLES

The subject article previously published in TSB 82-25-1, dated 12/6/82, is being republished to include other car lines which may be affected with this concern.
Cold air may leak through the inside door remote handles when the vent window or side window is slightly open and the heater blower motor is off (not running).
FIGURE 1:
To service, apply die cut adhesive backed seal to the outboard side of the inside remote door handle assembly (Figure 1).
Use the following procedure:
1. Remove the trim panel and water shield (refer to Shop Manual, Section 45-03).
2. Remove the door remote handle (refer to Shop Manual, Escort/Lynx, Section 44-06; Ranger Section 44-11-2).
3. Install the die cut seal to the outboard side of the door handle (Figure 1, View "B" and "C").
4. Install the remote handle to door.
5. Install the water shield and trim panel.
