Radio/Stereo: Service and Repair
When installing radio, be sure to adjust antenna trimmer for peak performance.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. On models with console, remove console as follows:
a. Remove gear shift lever opening plate. Lift plate up at front end and disengage from clip.
b. Remove console panel moulding from center of console.
c. Remove front ashtray.
d. Remove 2 console-to-floor pan attaching screws located under the ashtray.
e. Open console storage compartment door and remove 4 console-to-floor pan attaching screws.
f. Disconnect all electrical connectors from console, then remove console from vehicle.
3. On all models, disconnect all electrical connectors from radio.
4. Remove control knobs, discs, control shaft nuts and washers.
5. Remove ashtray and bracket.
6. Remove radio rear support attaching nut.
7. Remove instrument panel lower reinforcement.
8. Remove A/C or heater floor ducts.
9. Remove radio from bezel and rear support, then lower from instrument panel.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
