Variable Venturi 2700
Carburetor:
These carburetors, are two bore, variable venturi units. The variable venturis, located at the top of the throttle bores, are small oblong castings that slide across the throttle bores.
The venturis are positioned by a spring loaded diaphragm valve regulated by a vacuum signal obtained below the venturis in the throttle bores. As the throttle is opened, the vacuum signal increases, thereby, opening the venturis and permitting more air to enter the carburetor while maintaining approximately the same venturi air velocity.
Tapered metering rods are attached to the venturi valves and fit into the metering jets. As the venturis are positioned in response to air demand, the metering rods slide in the jets to provide the proper air-fuel mixture during all modes of engine operation. By the use of the variable venturi principle, the only auxiliary fuel metering systems required are the accelerator pump, idle trim, starting enrichment and cold running enrichment.
