This article is being republished in its entirety to correct the service part numbers.

ISSUE: The original production compressor clutch components are no longer serviced separately for 2.3L engine applications. This makes it necessary to replace the entire clutch assembly with the current production pulley (19D784), hub (19D786) and field coil (19D798). On 3.8L engine applications, a compressor clutch service kit and a field coil service kit are available.

The current production coil used on the 3.8L engine will not seat properly on the compressor and this could prevent the pulley from rotating. Replacement or modification of the compressor bracket on 3.8L engine applications to accept any field coil other than the one included in the field coil kit is not possible because of bracket configuration.




ACTION: A list of parts for clutch replacement on the vehicles is shown in the chart on page 11. The list gives both the engineering number and the service number for the parts. The engineering numbers are stamped on each part and can be used to identify the parts.
