Disassemble

1. Remove transmission cover and gasket from transmission case, then drain lubricant from transmission.
2. Remove shift rail detent plug, spring and plunger from upper left side of case.
3. Working through shift lever opening in extension housing, remove access plug from rear of housing.

Removing Offset Lever & Bushing:

4. Shift transmission into reverse gear, then remove gear shift shaft offset lever roll pin. Remove offset lever and bushing from shaft.
5. Remove 5th gear interlock pilot bolt from top of extension housing.
6. Remove extension housing attaching bolts and extension housing.
7. Remove speedometer drive gear snap ring, speedometer drive gear and ball from output shaft.
8. Remove 5th gear synchronizer snap ring and retaining spacer from output shaft.
9. Shift transmission into 1st gear, then remove roll pins securing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and reverse selector pins. Remove selector pins.

Removing Shift Shaft & 5th Speed Synchronizer:

10. Remove shifter shaft, 5th speed shift fork and 5th speed synchronizer from output shaft as an assembly.
11. Remove interlock sleeve bolt from right side of case, then lift interlock sleeve, 3rd and 4th speed shift fork and 1st and 2nd speed shift fork from case.
12. From inside transmission case, remove C-clip from reverse gear selector fork pivot pin, then remove the pin.
13. Remove reverse gear selector fork relay lever, spring and reverse gearshift fork from case.
14. Remove 5th speed main drive gear from output shaft.

Removing 5th Speed Cluster Gear:

15. Remove snap ring from rear of 5th speed cluster gear and the gear.
16. Remove snap ring from output shaft rear bearing and bearing cup from the case.
17. Remove bolts attaching input shaft bearing retainer to case, then the retainer, shim, 0-ring and seal.

Input Shaft Replacement:

18. Rotate input shaft to position teeth recess toward countershaft gear, then remove input gear from case.
19. Remove output shaft assembly from case.
20. Remove snap ring from rear of case and the countershaft gear rear bearing cup.
21. Remove bolts securing countershaft front bearing retainer to case, then the bearing retainer, gasket, shim and front bearing cup.
22. Remove countershaft gear from transmission case.
23. Remove pin securing reverse idler gear shaft to case and the reverse idler gear shaft and gear.
