Disassembly
1. On non-Feedback models, remove two rivets and one attaching screw plus retaining ring, the thermostatic spring housing assembly, spring housing gasket, locking and indexing plate and fast idle link and bushings, then the fuel filter inlet.
2. On Feedback models, remove two rivets and one screw, index tab, the thermostatic spring housing assembly, spring housing gaskets, locking and indexing plate, and fast idle link.
3. On 1983 Feedback models, remove WOT A/C cut-out switch if equipped, bracket assembly and throttle control device.
3a. On 1984 - 86 Feedback models, remove throttle position sensor, backing plate, driver, DC idle speed control motor and bracket assembly.
4. On Feedback models, remove two screws disconnecting choke pulldown link and remove pulldown motor assembly, then disengage link from choke shaft lever.
5. On non-Feedback models, remove air horn assembly attaching screws, solevac or solenoid, air horn assembly, air horn gasket, wire clip retaining link that joins the fast idle choke lever to the fast idle cam, and the link.
6. On Feedback models, remove air horn assembly attaching screws, air horn assembly, air horn gasket and feedback solenoid with gasket.
7. On all models, hold air horn assembly bottom side up and remove float pin and float lever assembly, then invert air horn assembly and catch needle pin, spring and needle.
8. Remove needle seat and gasket.
9. Remove choke plate attaching screws, filing burrs from choke shaft as necessary.
10. Remove choke plate from air horn assembly, then the choke link lever and attaching screw.
11. Remove spring retainer for mechanical fuel bowl vent flapper valve.
12. Remove vent shaft rod and spring, then the flapper valve, noting position of ends of torsion spring on vent rod. Do not immerse air horn in any cleaner or solvent.
13. Turn main body casting upside down and catch accelerator pump check ball and weight.
14. Remove throttle shaft mechanical fuel bowl lever retaining screw at end of throttle shaft, then the operating lever spring washer, vent rod, actuating lever and E-clip.
15. Loosen throttle shaft arm set screw and remove arm and pump connector link.
16. Remove fast idle cam and shoulder screw.
17. Remove accelerator pump diaphragm housing screws and pump transfer tube.
18. Lift out diaphragm assembly, the pump lifter link, and metering rod as a unit, then remove lifter link seal.
19. Disengage metering rod arm spring from metering rod and remove metering rod from metering rod assembly, noting location of any washers shimming either spring.
20. Compress upper pump spring and remove spring retainer and cup, then the upper spring, metering rod arm assembly and pump lifter link from pump diaphragm shaft.
21. Compress pump diaphragm spring and remove pump diaphragm spring retainer, spring and pump diaphragm assembly from pump diaphragm housing assembly.
22. On Feedback models, using sharp punch or awl, remove temperature compensated accelerator pump bleed valve plug from main body casting, then loosen bleed valve screw and remove valve, if equipped.
23. On all models, using suitable tool, remove main metering rod jet and low speed jet.
24. Remove retaining screws and separate throttle body flange assembly from main body casting, then remove body flange gasket.
25. Remove throttle plate retaining screws, filing staked ends as necessary.
26. Slide throttle shaft and lever assembly out of throttle body flange assembly, noting location of ends of torsion spring on throttle shaft.
27. Remove idle mixture screw adjustment limiting cap and cup assembly as described under ``Concealment Cap Removal.''
28. Count and record number of turns required to seat mixture screw needle lightly.
29. On non-Feedback models, remove WOT A/C cut-out switch, if equipped.
